Refining the drawing over and over, I eventually am satisfied and ink it. Of course, the terms ink and pencil are all wrong as I do this entirely on the computer. I work in Photoshop (and Illustrator) using a Wacom Cintiq 21UX, which is a large screen that is drawn on with a stylus. It is also the most awesome thing ever. My art is digital, yet I accomplish it with traditional techniques. I use the computer for several reasons, many of which are time management issues. I don't have to wait for paints to dry, clean my brushes or mix new colors. Nevertheless, there is no magic button or command that does the work for me. The computer will not make a poorly rendered figure look proper, nor will it make an awkward layout look pleasing. The computer will not make an uninspired idea relevant, give a cliched visual metaphor nuance, or make up for lack of drawing ability. Click the image to advance.
